Every day I meet people who talk up the
job. They chatter endlessly about deals they are going to close, cars they are
going to buy, and homes they wish to move into. They use talking as an excuse
for doing and more often than not, DO NOT accomplish their goals. They run their
lives using their CONSCIOUS MINDS and
often get very frustrated with limited or NO RESULTS.
On the other hand I meet many eminently successful people, who go about applying their craft, keeping their heads down, creating success by stealth. These successful people very rarely talk about deals they have on the go (only on a need to know basis) or what new car they are just about to purchase. However, practically on a day-to-day basis, you can see these peoples accomplishments in tangible results in the real world. These people run their lives using their SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS and often amaze themselves and all those around them with ASTOUNDING RESULTS of what they are able to achieve.
The first group of people often watch a
lot of television, drink in pubs, read endless newspapers and take little time
out for serious matters of the mind.
The second group of people busy
themselves with their work, take walks in the park, go to the theatre. Take time
out for swimming, cycling, and exercise and more often than not indulge in some
sort of meditation or at the very least some meditative practice; ie going out
of ones mind once a day by stopping the constant internal dialogue. More than
anything they recognise the importance of going inside ones own mind and
listening to the small still voice
It is crucial to spend time day-dreaming
and visualising in great detail ones goals on a regular basis and employ the
right brain that thinks in pictures. Obviously all of this will make more sense
if you have read self-help books that talk about the practice of creative
visualisation.
By associating with people who have
accomplished what it is you are trying to achieve will give you a great insight
as to how they think, operate, behave, talk to people, generate business and
close deals.
By selecting and locking onto a mentor,
you will get a source of inspiration, ideas and practical knowledge of how
things are done in the real world. Once you understand in detail how things
are really accomplished, you will not have any difficulty in making things
happens yourself.
The following insight will help you to
not only think REALLY BIG, but hopefully go a very long way to turning your big
idea into practical reality.
People who think big know they cannot do
things alone and once they get their BIG idea they immediately go about putting
a team together who can bring their BIG IDEA to fruition.
Entrepreneurs do this incredibly well by
attracting to themselves a board of directors who will head up a company to turn
the idea into reality. They may employ a heavyweight non-executive chairman
(this guy may well come in with money, other contacts and above all lots of
credibility for the project). Next they may recruit a sales director and maybe a
marketing director. An IT director and a Managing Director if that is what is
needed. One or two heavy non-executive directors may be engaged to add even
further credibility to the team and the board. A figures / money man who is a
finance director joins the team and then they are in position to raise money,
develop the product or service and take it into the big wide world. It is worthy
of noting many times members of the team are not only happy to join a team and
contribute what skills they may have but many times will come in with cash as
well, £20k to £50k is not uncommon and £100k to £200 is certainly not
unheard of. People and money really can turn BIG ideas into tangible reality. I
mentor people on how to do this every day of the week, with more than a fair
degree of success.
You see, people you think big use
practical ways of bringing their dreams and ideas to fruition. They bridge
all of their weaknesses by putting a team together. A properly assembled team
can overcome all hurdles and barriers. USE this idea as a yardstick and catalyst
to turn any BIG IDEA into MONEY.
People who think big have they habit of trying out their big ideas even if the fail. They keep at the big ideas until one clicks. Hundreds of big ideas if necessary.
Learn as you go.
Every time you have a failure (over the years I have had many!) you grow stronger and you learn from your mistakes. Pick yourself up, brush yourself down, and start again on a new project the very same day. Most people dont do that. They fail and many times that really knocks the stuffing out of them and many times it will be years before they get into action again. It pays to carry out a post mortem on failures as well as successes. Analyse what works for you and what doesnt and keep doing more of what works and less of what doesnt.
See you next week!
